Perception of quality, socio-cultural impact, destination image and future intentions of the tourist participating in a sustainable nautical event

The aim of this study was to evaluate the perception of the participating sports tourist regarding the quality of the event, socio-cultural perception, destination image and future intentions, comparing possible differences between national and foreign tourists participating in an international sailing event. The sample was composed of 115 participating tourists, 69.6% were foreign tourists and 30.4% national tourists. An adaptation of two questionnaires on quality in sports events and tourism impact in sports events was used, composed of 16 items on four factors (perceived quality, socio-cultural perception, destination image and future intentions). A Confirmatory Factor Analysis and a t-test for independent samples were carried out. The results of this study presented a valid and reliable tool to measure the tourism perception of a small-scale sport event. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la percepción del turista deportivo participante sobre la calidad del evento, percepción sociocultural, imagen de destino e intenciones futuras, comparando las posibles diferencias entre el turista nacional y extranjero participantes en un evento náutico internacional. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 115 turistas participantes, un 69.6% fue turista internacional y un 30.4% turista nacional.
